<![CDATA[You know building a bridge is hard. This story about what it’s like building the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge when the weather gets bad is just plain good reading. Rebar acting like a sail… construction cranes in high winds… floods of mud and rock.
I drive my kids out across the old Narrows Bridge (the second, actually, after Galloping Gertie, for those of you who didn’t know you need to keep count). They like to see how much higher the bridge gets each week—and it’s usually a dramatic change. The new bridge is going up fast, now, and will be finished in a few years. In the meantime, it’s a hell of a story in the making.]]>

great article, i could easily see a fictionalized book come out of the story, especially with that grizzled old-timer pining away over his ‘chilblains.’
i’m still not going anywhere near 16.
