From an article from the Department of Defense’s American Forces Information Service, setting expectations for failure by suggesting that the first American election happened in the midst of ongoing guerilla war (it didn’t and the circumstances are utterly different—Americans chose and fought for their democracy, it wasn’t imposed, no matter how desperately it was wanted):
