Security Overkill

It seems kind of silly to me. No, I don’t feel any safer knowing tht the astronauts are personally guarded by men carryng automatic weapons.
I would think it would require an Arlington Road plot twist to get close enough to the guys in orange to do any damage.

Who cares whether you feel safe or not? And why do you think you would know what kind of safety precautions should be taken concerning astronauts and the space program?

Overtmarrow—I get to ask this question because I am an American. Moreover, I think it is clear to anyone with even a passing knowledge of the strict controls on access to the Kennedy Space Center that this is a stupid display of force. I’d rather see the government make real investments in public safety than put extra security on people already completely protected by normal procedures.

No, no. You got it backward. The security is to protect the Shuttle FROM the astronauts. Every time they let those bozos near that expensive piece of equipment something falls off.
