<![CDATA[Penn Gillette on NPR’s This I Believe : There is No God:
I believe that there is no God. I’m beyond Atheism. Atheism is not believing in God. Not believing in God is easy — you can’t prove a negative, so there’s no work to do. You can’t prove that there isn’t an elephant inside the trunk of my car. You sure? How about now? Maybe he was just hiding before. Check again. Did I mention that my personal heartfelt definition of the word “elephant” includes mystery, order, goodness, love and a spare tire?
So, anyone with a love for truth outside of herself has to start with no belief in God and then look for evidence of God.
One of the best explanations of what I believe isn’t the case (think about it). Read the whole thing and then you can damn me point by point, if you believe that way….

One reply on “NPR : There is No God (a headline so provocative on so many levels that it can't be intentional)”
Hi there,
I would like to share some of my thoughts with regards to this subject.
Let me start out by say, that I’m a bible believing Christian. I believe in intelligent creation and that everything was created by a creator. (The GOD of the Bible)
“So, anyone with a love for truth outside of herself has to start with no belief in God and then look for evidence of God.”
This statement could not be truer!! Yes as the bible teaches us, Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
In fact we don’t even need to “not belief “ in God because we are born sinners not believing in God. It is only by His initiative, Grace and Merry that a person is saved, through his Son Jesus Christ.
Something that I find interesting in the article by Penn Jillette is that he writes, “It seems just rude to beg the invisible for more.” My question is, who is this “invisible” that he is referring to?
Is it a bigger force, something out there that “gives” or provides for him, who is this that gives Penn all the things that he has? “I have love, blue skies, rainbows…” if what you have, have been given to you who have given it to you?
Does Penn believe in a invisible provider…?
Now with this in mind think of the statement that Penn makes later “The Atheism part is easy.” Personally I seriously doubt this statement to be true.
If you expect me to believe that a human evolved form being an App, well then where did the Apps come from? And why do we still have Apps around? And why did the evolution process stopped with humans…?
Tri to figure out the Atheism religion and tell me if it’s “easy”, there’s nothing easy about Atheism, in fact I believe you need more faith to be an Atheist than a Christian.
Here is what I believe and know to be the truth; In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen 1:1
Thanks for letting me share these truths with you and your reader.
